Episode 1 đ
7 Ace performances + 6 team performances
Aces: Myungho (8Turn), Hyeongjun (Cravity), Hwanwoong (Oneus), Hanbin (Tempest), Junhyeok (TNX), Lim Jimin (The CrewOne), Dey (Younite)
Each team chose an Ace to represent them with a solo performance. The penalty for last place was that their team would not be able to perform. Unfortunately Hyeongjun came in last, so Cravity did not get to perform... :(
favorite Ace performance: Myungho (8Turn) - I was impressed by his stunts and I much prefer the "cool sexy" style to the "wild masculinity" of Jimin's (TheCrewOne) performance. Would also add Hwanwoong and Dey to my top 3.
favorite Team performance: The CrewOne - just completely awesome, had to pick my jaw up off the floor at the end. they came to eat! Also enjoyed Tempest's dance with the lightpole and 8Turn's football concept! I really like where Oneus is going with the concept of the 5 members as the 4 card suits + the joker, they prepared well.
I know probably all the teams are hoping for a success story similar to The Boyz, and it seemed to me like several of them have definitely been analyzing The Boyz' RTK/Kingdom stages for inspiration. Most of them showed clear effort to tell a story with their performances, with some (especially Oneus) trying to establish a broader narrative as well. Many of them also made a point to include physical acrobatic stunts in their performances. Myungho's performance reminded me a lot of TBZ' The Stealer and Checkmate đ and Hyeongjun's performance seemed to draw some inspiration from their Sword of Victory and ASOIAF stages.

Episodes 2-3 đ
3 cover battles:
- The New Six vs Tempest [Stray Kids]
- 8Turn vs Younite [Enhypen]
- Oneus [NCT] vs The CrewOne [The Boyz] vs Cravity [TXT]
A live studio audience voted for the winner of each match as well as for the top 3 teams and Aces.
Match 1
The New Six
song: Phobia
Ace: Hwi
Tempest
song: Maniac
Ace: Lew
The New Six were the clear winner here. Even though Phobia was a side track with no official choreography, the creative stage direction was very similar to the style Stray Kids is known for, which I think made it a really successful cover overall. I loved the visual of the black hands reaching out. I felt like Tempest's vocals were not striking enough to pull off Maniac and I think they should have chosen a different song.
Match 2
8Turn
song: Future Perfect
Ace: Yungyu
Younite
song: Bite Me
Ace: Eunsang
Another clear winner: Younite. It seemed that the members put in a lot of effort to come up with ideas for this stage, and it ended up being a really unique and engaging performance. Eunsang was fantastic and I think he will definitely be one of the most memorable Aces. The final scene where he emerges as the dark angel was awesome. The other members also did well, especially the vocals sounded perfect. 8Turn's performance was good too - I liked their dance break and thought Yungyu did well portraying a rebellious attitude - but it just wasn't enough to beat Younite.
Match 3
Oneus
song: Kick It
Ace: Hwanwoong
The CrewOne
song: Watch It
Ace: Seunghwan
Cravity
song: Sugar Rush Ride
Ace: Hyeongjun
Almost forgot that ATBO is The Boyz' junior! Having TBZ themselves + their company to help with planning their cover was a major advantage! Apparently they made a mistake during the performance, but overall it was awesome, I loved the gothic aesthetic + vampire theme and could feel my eyes turning into hearts while watching lol đ I didn't realize Geonu had such good vocals but I was really impressed! Seunghwan did really well and I don't think he was too overshadowed. I do think it's really important to visually differentiate and highlight the Ace. Unfortunately it didn't help Seunghwan's ranking this time, but it may have given Hwanwoong and Eunsang an edge over Hyeongjun.
The other teams' performances were really good as well. I liked Oneus' Kingsman concept and appreciated their strong vocals. I disagree with the show's narrative that Hwanwoong carried the others, I think all the members did well and they all had incredible energy. I liked Cravity's focus on the hands in the choreography. I think having Taeyoung with Hyeongjun a lot and not visually differentiating them was not a great decision because it made Taeyoung seem like the Ace. As for vocals, Woobin was good but the team as a whole was not as impressive as Oneus and The CrewOne. I don't think Cravity deserved the win here and they basically won on popularity. Likewise, The CrewOne being very low was not deserved at all, but I'm hopeful their ranking will improve as more people learn who they are.
Ace Battle
Hyeongjun and Hwanwoong had a dance battle for the final 1st place benefit to decide the cue sheet for the next round. Coincidentally they were both doing contemporary dance with similar concepts and outfits đŗ However, Hwanwoong had the edge with his creative use of props and a more interesting concept/story. His dance was titled "Sovereign Shadows" and began with him sacrificing a flower and ended with him tearfully placing a crown of thorns on his head. I don't know what the right interpretation is but for me the thought came to mind that it was a metaphor for the sacrifice and struggle to become an Ace.
my ranking for this round~đ
Top 3 Teams: The CrewOne, Younite, Oneus
Top 3 Aces: Eunsang, Seunghwan, Hwi
# | Team | Ace |
---|---|---|
1 | Cravity | Hwanwoong |
2 | Younite | Eunsang |
3 | The New Six | Hyeongjun |
4 | Oneus | Hwi |
5 | Tempest | Lew |
6 | The CrewOne | Seunghwan |
7 | 8Turn | Yungyu |
Episodes 4-5 â¨
Round 2's theme was "Identity": each group performed one of their own songs to tell a story about themselves.
8Turn
song: Tic Tac
Aces: Jaeyun, Myungho
8Turn went with their debut song and an ancient Egyptian theme, with Jaeyun as Anubis (god of the dead), Myungho as a deceased pharaoh, and the other members as spirits. Motivated by being in last place, they focused on improving their concept and making sure the Aces stood out this time.
The New Six
song: Love or Die
Aces: Junhyeok, Kyungjun
TNX's performance progressed from a beautiful Swan Lake ballet-like theme to fiery passion at the end. Their use of ladders as props was very cool. However, not only were all the members dressed very similarly but the Aces were not separated enough, so it was rather confusing.
Cravity
song: Love or Die
Aces: Minhee, Taeyoung
I liked Cravity's performance much better this time! The prop setup was relatively simple, relying a lot on the background visualizer instead, but the result was beautiful! They had a cool theme of being lightkeepers in the dark, and the ending with a thick shower of rose petals was especially striking â¤ī¸ Taeyoung has a lot of charisma and is a good choice for Ace.
Younite
song: Waterfall
Aces: Eunsang, Woono
Younite made the bold choice to go with a refreshing and cheerful performance because they felt it reflected their identity better. While it was very nice, I felt like the different parts of the performance didn't really go together - Eunsang gets submerged in a waterfall, then they're doing a bright retro musical, then they're on the beach with fireworks, then they're back doing a musical but with different colors and candy canes??? Woono and Eunho are both adorable tho đ
The CrewOne
song: Get Away [Just B] x Attitude [ATBO]
Aces: Jimin, Junseok
I love Geonu's pep talks đ The CrewOne went with a Harry Potter school theme with magic tricks included in the choreography. I don't know much about Harry Potter but it looked really cool and all the members showed off their talents well. Jimin somehow made it through on an injured ankle! I somewhat disagree with the other groups' criticism that it didn't express their identity. I think it's not hard to extrapolate the ideas of independence and teamwork from the performance.
Tempest
song: Eye of the Tempest x Can't Stop Shining
Aces: Hanbin, Hyuk
During the other groups' performances, MNet kept cutting to poor Lew looking like a deer in the headlights over and over đ¤Ŗ For this round Tempest went with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Visually it was not my style, but the members did well and had great cheerful energy. The moment of Hyuk dancing in the fairy dust was really memorable.
Oneus
song: No Diggity
Aces: Hwanwoong, Seoho
Oneus went with a Mad Max theme where they were the battle musicians from Fury Road. You know, the bad guys... their identity is the bad guys?? lol... Anyway it was not my style, too crazy and over the top. Seoho's vocals were impressive though.
my ranking~đ
top 3 teams: Cravity, The CrewOne, The New Six
top 3 Aces: Taeyoung, Junseok, Hyuk
I can't believe The CrewOne placing so low again! Is it really just lack of name recognition? Because their performances have all been incredible to me! The way they keep giving 200% but losing again and again hurts to watch... So disappointing... đđ¤
Objectively speaking, The New Six's performance this time seemed not as well thought out as Round 1 nor as impressive as the other teams. However, they ended up in my top 3 because I did really like the ballet part and I didn't like any of the other groups' stages that much.
# | Team (R2) | Ace (R2) | Team (Total) | Ace (Total) |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Cravity | Hwanwoong, Seoho | Cravity | Oneus |
2 | Oneus | Minhee, Taeyoung | Oneus | Cravity |

4 | Tempest | Hanbin, Hyuk | The New Six | Tempest |

6 | Younite | Eunsang, Woono | Tempest | The CrewOne |
7 | The New Six | Junhyeok, Kyungjun | The CrewOne | The New Six |
Seunghwan and Junseok pitted a martial arts themed dance against Hwi's defiant rap in a battle to save their teams from elimination. Both performances were great and it was really stressful to watch the elimination, but thankfully The CrewOne survived đĨē
On the first season of RTK, the first group to get eliminated was Golden Child (!!!), so I hope The New Six knows they're in good company and they have nothing to be ashamed of. I enjoyed their performances and I hope they've been able to gain more recognition from the show.
Episodes 6-7
Round 3A: Ace Battle
"Water" and "Fire" teams were created with 1 Ace from each group. Cravity and Oneus each got a benefit to pick their part first, but later a "hidden part" was revealed to shake things up a little.
Water: Hwanwoong, Hyuk, Minhee, Jaeyun, Seunghwan, Sion
My top 3: Sion, Minhee, Jaeyun
The Water team performed a slow trap/synthwave song called "Paradise" with a sexy concept, including revealing clothing and dancing in the water. Sion didn't get much of the spotlight, but his tall, lean, attractive body was perfect for these sensual moves â¤ī¸ I was disappointed that he came in last place âšī¸ Minhee suits a sexy vibe pretty well too, in more of a fantasy prince-like way. Jaeyun was pretty good. Seunghwan was ok, he had some good facial expressions. Hwanwoong and Hyuk are very talented but did not come across as sexy to me. Sorry but showing your tummy â sexy đ
Fire: Hyeongseok, Leedo, Lew, Myungho, Junseok, Taeyoung
My top 3: Taeyoung, Junseok, Lew
The Fire team performed a song called "Framework", with an energetic, fiery concept. The obvious standouts here were Junseok and Taeyoung. The others all did well, but personally I preferred Lew. I was impressed with him taking on those high notes despite being a rapper, and I thought his light, snappy dancing style fit well with the idea of flickering flames. Myungho was good but trying too hard to be sexy, which seemed out of place in this performance.
# | Water | Fire | 3A Total |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Jaeyun | Taeyoung | Minhee, Taeyoung |
2 | Minhee, Hwanwoong | Junseok | Jaeyun, Myungho |
3 | - | Myungho | Seunghwan, Junseok |
4 | Hyuk | Lew | Hwanwoong, Leedo / Hyuk, Lew |
5 | Seunghwan | Hyungseok | - |
6 | Sion | Leedo | Sion, Hyungseok |
Round 3B: Team Battle
This round's theme was "No Limit" - the groups were encouraged to come up with wild ideas and the performance was recorded instead of live, which opened up more possibilities.
The CrewOne
song: Sherlock [Shinee]
Ace: Junseok
The CrewOne chose a military theme with inspiration from the movie Saving Private Ryan. Their storyline was a mission to rescue Jimin, who injured his ankle in their last performance. They "pushed the limit" the most out of all the groups, including a helicopter rope entrance, a tank, and a plane crash! It was like watching a movie!
Tempest
song: Jopping [SuperM]
Ace: Hyuk
Tempest chose a cyberpunk theme with inspiration from The Matrix. Hyuk did great considering he had pneumonia (!?!) Unfortunately there was a mistake at their big moment, but it looked like it was more the crew's fault than his. Overall it was still a really cool stage.
it's concerning to see these guys performing while injured/sick, like is there really no way to rearrange the performance to give them a break...? đ
Younite
song: Armageddon [aespa]
Ace: Eunsang
Younite went for a post-apocalyptic theme, depicting themselves as a new breed of humans that are able to defeat zombies. One thing I loved about this stage was the way they used the backup dancers. Great choreography and creative stage direction. All the members were fully in the zone and gave fire performances đĨ I also appreciated that they had a positive attitude while preparing rather than stressing out about their position.
8Turn
song: Love Dive [Ive]
Ace: Myungho
8Turn went with the story of Narcissus oh but Narcissus is good actually we're so original đ¤ I hate the celebration of narcissism in Korean culture. Healthy self-esteem is good; narcissism is an abusive personality disorder that destroys people's lives đ
Oneus
song: Luna
Ace: Seoho
Oneus went for a traditional Korean theme with hanbok, fans, and a storyline of doomed love between a human and a half-monster from Korean mythology. I'd say they pushed their limit with sheer quantity and variety of fans đ
Cravity
song: Overdose [Exo]
Ace: Serim
Cravity portrayed the concept of overdose with the members being addicted to some kind of toxic gas, as well as thick black venom seeping through their veins. The venom effect was accomplished with magnetic fluid and while that was cool, as well as the burning tree at the end, I felt like there wasn't much that expressed the concept of pushing the limits in some way, like in the other groups' performances.
my ranking~đ
top 3 teams: The CrewOne, Younite, Oneus
top 3 Aces: Junseok, Eunsang, Seoho
# | Team 3B | Ace 3B | Team R3 | Ace R3 | Total |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Cravity | 8Turn | Cravity | Cravity | Cravity |
2 | Younite | Oneus | Younite | Oneus | Oneus |
3 | Oneus | Cravity | Oneus | 8Turn | 8Turn |
4 | 8Turn | Younite | 8Turn | Younite | Younite |
5 | The CrewOne | The CrewOne | Tempest | The CrewOne | The CrewOne |
6 | Tempest | Tempest | The CrewOne | Tempest | Tempest |
Man, The CrewOne doesn't deserve to keep being so stressed out like this... It's a tough competition but another awesome performance basically unrewarded...đ¤ Tempest also had a cool performance and it's sad to see them get eliminated but it would have felt incredibly unfair if The CrewOne ranked lower than the group that messed up their crucial moment. I still have a good opinion of Hyuk and don't blame him but it is what it is. Anyway, respect for Tempest and hoping the best for The CrewOne and Younite in the final~
